Luke SoderlingLessons Learned through Survival
Luke Soderling was selected as a survivalist for the Discovery Channel’s show “The Wheel” in 2016. As a participant, he survived over 60 days – alone – in 6 different locations throughout South America without any prior training aside from basic backpacking experience. With ingenuity, hard work and determination he independently learned to excel in the wild: building complex shelters with the materials available, foraging from his surroundings for food and escaping the extreme situations that he encountered along the way. Luke attributes his success on “The Wheel” to an even greater challenge he faced in 2013, when he was diagnosed with and subsequently beat Stage 3 thyroid cancer. Upon reflection and examination of his life’s experiences, he realized that his stories and lessons from adversity could be applied to the challenges we all share in our daily lives.
