Born and raised in Colorado, AMY VAN DYKEN is a six-time Olympic gold medalist in swimming. She won four gold medals at the 1996 Summer Olympics making her the first American woman to accomplish that feat and the winningest gold medalist, male or female, in 1996. She went on to win two more gold medals at the 2000 Summer Games. In 2014, she was injured in an ATV accident, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. She is now competing in CrossFit as an adaptive athlete and qualified for her first WheelWOD Games in 2019, where she placed second in the world. |
