On behalf of the entire Operation Walk Denver team, we want to express our sincere appreciation to all who participated in the Walk of Dreams Gala on September 22, 2012. Together we have made a big difference in the lives of others.
The evening turned out to be a huge success by raising $200,000 to fund our Operation Walk Denver mission trips in 2013. Over $90,000 was pledged through the paddle raiser to purchase much needed replacement power tools for the surgeons who volunteer their time and skills on these essential trips.
Our special guest, Jose Luis Rodriquez, a recent joint-replacement patient from Panama, shared his heart-wrenching testimonial on how Operation Walk Denver changed his life by giving him the ability to walk normally, play soccer with his young son, and experience quality of life for the very first time. Since the age of 9 years old, Jose had dealt with the ravages of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Thankfully, at age 29, he found his way into the hands of the skilled medical team of Operation Walk Denver. Jose, over a period of one year, had both hips replaced followed by replacement of both of his knees. Seeing Jose walk across the stage and hug those of us who performed his surgeries left an impression that will not soon be forgotten.
Thank you for financially supporting Operation Walk Denver. Since its beginning in 2003, we have completed 18 missions in eight countries and performed more than 1000 joint replacement surgeries for patients with disabling arthritis and no access to life-improving care. All of these miracles are only possible because of the generosity of our donors.
